Note: There are other derbies who like to use our guidelines. I have no problem with it but I do have a request. If you are going to use them, then stick to them and do not deviate. Allowing things to go which we do not allow is not using our guidelines. If you cannot or will not go directly by what we do, then please do not use them or say you are using them. Doug.
2008-Final Release Vehicle Regulations Year-2008
Please make note of the below pre-race schedule
Registration closes one half hour before the show is scheduled to start
Drivers meeting is fifteen minutes before the show is scheduled to start
The shows need to start on time.
A: Drivers MUST be 18 years of age or older. Drivers 16 & 17 and pit entrants under age 18 require signed release from parent or legal guardian. Proof of age MANDATORY if requested. Be prepared.
B. Officials reserve the right to accept or reject any and all entries. No obscene wording or photos.
C. Only drivers, mechanics, etc., who sign insurance release will be allowed in pits.

Tri- State Speedway
Sun. Sept. 14th, 2008 Haubstadt, In 1:00 pm big & mini cars
We do listen. Due to many requests, we are now allowing the cars to be "built" more than we used to.
Please build by the rules. If a rule gets abused, We will remove it. If it works ok, we will leave it next year.
Read the rules fully for clarifications. Some of the changes include: Suspension may be stiff. No solid rods / pipe. Use shocks & springs, bolt, etc.
Solid / reinforced tie rods ok.
Tailgate-Hatch-Trunk lid may be welded shut.
Frame seams from cowl mounts forward and body mount box may have bead of weld added to them.
Cage can touch rear wheel humps with no connections/kicker plates. No pre-mashing down sheet metal.
No plates anywhere on frame. Filler repairs are acceptable. Very Minimal overlapping on metal repairs.
Any driver bringing a plated or reinforced vehicle is subject to not drive in our shows for 1 year.
VEHICLE REGULATIONS
Must be ANY year hardtop car or station wagon. NO HEARSES, SEDAGONS, LIMOS, JEEPS, CHECKERS, IMPERIALS, TRUCKS or SUV’s unless specified. Click the above Truck & SUV tab for information.
BIG CARS DRIVETRAIN / ENGINE
01. Homemade driveshaft permitted.
02. Any make motor & transmission in any car.
03. Distributor must not pass through firewall at the before race inspection. Will be judged at inspection.
BIG CARS SUSPENSION
01. Suspension may be stiff. Do not change coils to leaf etc.
02. Do Not replace springs or shocks with solid rods/pipe. Solid / reinforced tierods are acceptable.
03. Height must not be any higher than 27 inches from top center of bumper(s) to the ground. We understand used cars will possibly differ and should be acceptable. Example: Spacers may be used to raise height. Do not smash center of bumpers down to try and make height requirement.
BIG CARS FRAME & BUMPERS
01. Frame seams & cowl body mount boxes forward may have single bead of weld added.
02. Bumper skins (chrome), brackets, assembly, shock housings & shocks may be welded. Do not weld ends of bumpers shut. Bumper shocks may be welded, bolted or chained on.
03. No Plating anywhere on frame. If frame is broken, a small "filler" may be put in to fill the break. Minimal overlap of metal on the frame. If it is a plate, it is considered no good. Do not cover frame holes.
04. Body Mounts: Do not take them out and place body on frame. You may replace them. If replaced, a gap of One Half Inch minimum is mandatory between body and frame. You may replace with a stack of washers, one piece of anything solid as long as it is about the same diameter as the factory bushing. Do Not squish factory mounts. Also, the body bolts may be replaced but must be of approximate size as the ones removed. Washers and nuts must remain in same location as any taken out. No big washers on the outside of the frame unless specified in the hoods and trunklids hold down section.
05. Bumpers and mounting assemblies may be interchanged. Any car bumper on any car.
06. Trunk area mounts torn out from previous competition is acceptable. If bolted back together, use spacers.
BIG CARS HOODS, TRUNKLIDS, HATCHES & TAILGATES
01. Hoods, trunklids, hatches and tailgates may be held closed with any one or any combination of these below option(s)…… Hoods must be open & with car during inspection.
02. Unlimited wire to sheet metal, bumper, roof. Unlimited cable, chains & bolts also permitted.
03. Up to 4 places in hood and also 4 places in trunk, through the frame, using all thread or homemade threaded rods. The all thread / rods may run through top of sheet metal and down through frame. Do not loop or U shape. Maximum of approx 1 inch in diameter. May be held in place with maximum of 3 washers per rod. One washer on bottom of frame, one washer on top of frame in hood area with nut on each washer. In trunk, one washer on bottom of frame and one washer on trunk floor pan with nut on each washer. One washer on top of hood or trunk lid with nut on washer. No big washers directly under hood or trunk lid sheet metal. Maximum size of any washer on these hold downs is approximately 7 inches in any direction. Body mounts may be removed if installing all thread through body mount hole.
04. Angle iron pieces are acceptable. No longer than approx 7 inches in length and approx 7 inches apart. May put on fender & hood and/or quarter & trunk, hatch or tailgate. We understand used cars may not have the 7 inch space. No bigger than approx. 2 inch angle.
05. Tailgate, Hatch, Trunklid may be welded solid shut. If welded, use strap no wider than approx 2 inches or use filler rod or bead of weld. If trunk lid comes to inspection closed, an inspection hole must be cut in trunk lid minimum of 15 inches in diameter for inspection if we cannot see in.
06. Hood and/or Trunklid may be removed. If hood is removed, fan must be removed also. Trunk lids must not be removed and bolted flat inside trunk on floor. They may be trimmed / tucked.
07. Hood must have hole(s) in it big enough to fight fires if needed. Hood must remain securely down over fan. If hood raises or bridges up where the fan is exposed, you may be taken out.
BIG CARS DRIVER COMPARTMENT ALL DOORS MAY BE SOLID WELDED SHUT
01. Driver protection bars are permitted by using any or all of these options. Side to side dash bar, Side to side bar behind drivers seat, or back seat area side to side bar. Bar(s) running from dash bar along doors to any bar(s) behind drivers seat. This may make an enclosure of the driver and fuel tank area. A single loop roll bar is also acceptable. Only the roll bar may be welded or bolted to frame. If you have any corner bars, they may only connect to sheet metal / floor pan. If connecting to floor, a washer / plate on each corner is acceptable to secure it down. Rear corners and bars may touch wheel well humps and must not have any kicker plates or be connected to humps. No pre-mashing down sheet metal. Bar cannot go any further back than lower seat cushion location if it was still in the car.
02. Outside drivers door plate is acceptable. If it comes loose, you may be disqualified for safety.
03. Firewall may be cut to gain access to distributor, to run lines through or to make floor shifter operate properly. Do not overcut for safety reasons.
BIG CARS MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
01. Batteries: Any type or amount may be used. Mount in passenger floor or seat securely and cover.
02. Drivers door should not be mashed down for easier access to the inside of the vehicle.
03. Electric fuel pump permitted. Must have power cut off switch in reach of driver.
04. Eye protection mandatory while on track. Helmets must be strapped securely while driving.
05. Fenders & Quarters may be trimmed. You may bolt them back together. Do not use excessive amount of bolts and washers. No welding panels together.
06. Fiberglass header panels must be removed. They do not support the car and only make a mess.
07. Gas tank must be removed and if possible, a smaller tank (recommend metal not plastic) must be placed in drivers compartment behind drivers seat. Must be covered and securely mounted.
08. ALL glass MUST be removed. NONE permitted in doors, tailgates or laying loose in car anywhere. Any sign of glass and car WILL NOT COMPETE.
09. Glass, lights, lenses, moldings, door handles, locks, wheel weights, plastic grilles, freon must be removed before arriving at track. All cars must be swept clean.
10. Headers through hood permitted. No side to side header connector to help support hood.
11. Radiator may not have any foam or padding around it, only in the corners.
12. Radiator must remain in stock position. Any automobile style allowed. No reserve tanks.
13. Seatbelts must be operable and worn. If not, car will be disqualified or not compete.
14. Sheet metal such as dog houses, etc must remain Ford to Ford, GM to GM, etc.
15. Any type tire may be liquid / solid filled or stuffed. Must be 16 inch or smaller size.
16. Transmission / oil cooler acceptable but must be mounted no higher than front seat due to safety reasons. Mount to floor, back seat area or under hood. Not in front by driver. No reserve tanks.
17. Anything may be removed unless previously stated. Do not weld Radiator Support, Hood Hinges or anything else unless these rules say you can. Do not weld anything under hood unless it is a repair except for core support which can be welded to the fenders. I am sure there are some minimal items that will be and can be welded and will be judged at the time. If there is something you have in mind, feel free to email me. We just do not want welded radiator supports, fenders, hoods, firewalls or anything that would be major reinforcement. Small weld repairs are OK but will be judged. We understand everyone has their things they like to do. If you do something not on the list, just let us know and it will be evaluated and be a final and binding decision for all vehicles. We will most likely let it go unless we feel it is too much.
MINI CAR REGULATIONS:
Same as big cars except for: No cars appearing to sit higher than normal will be allowed to compete.
Must be powered by a motor that is no more than 6 cylinders. Must be 104 inch wheel base or less.
No frame shortening or moving rear end forward. Must have mini car bumpers. 15 inch or smaller tires / wheels. If 4 wheel drive, you must convert to 2 wheel drive.
BIG AND MINI CARS CAN BE DISQUALIFIED FOR:
A: Using up determined time limit to make a hit (2 minutes). Sandbagging-Not hitting. Holding
B: Hitting drivers door. First time warning. Second time disqualification. 2 small fires or 1 big fire.
LATE ENTRIES will most likely not be accepted. We have a time schedule and we cannot keep the fans waiting. MAKE SURE you get signed in no later than about 45 minutes before show time OR YOU WILL MOST LIKELY NOT COMPETE.
Demo driver and one pit helper get in free at the fair admission gates and must be in the towing vehicle of the car. All others will be charged gate admission. Driver entry fee at the fairs is $30.00 per car. Each pit pass is $10.00 in addition to charges at main fair gate. Feature vehicle must be same car and driver as driven in heat. Top 2 running vehicles in heats will receive money & trophy then will advance to feature. Others will also advance. Heat ends when 3rd car is no longer running, takes theirself out, or time limit is up. We will determine how many drivers advance to feature based on how many heats we have. We plan to try and run consi events this season if possible. Mini cars will be ran between big car heats & feature.
If we have too many mini cars for one event, we will have elimination heats and we usually stop the heats at 8 cars and take 16 to feature. Mini car prize money & trophies are in the mini feature

TRI STATE SPEEDWAY HAUBSTADT, INDIANA DEMOLITION DERBY
Tri- State Speedway Haubstadt, In. Sept 14th 1:00pm rain date Sept. 21st
Demo will be held along with the enduro and other events. The above rules will apply for this derby.
The only difference is the vehicles from other events who compete in the derby will be permitted to have a full cage due to other rules requiring this. Keep in mind most cars which derby from these events have the potential to be damaged from the nature of the events. They will not be able to run anything that protrudes outside of the driver compartment to the frame/reinforcement.
No heats. Payout is as follows:
Big Cars- 1st place- $1,000.00 2nd place- $600.00 3rd place- $300.00
Mini Cars- 1st place $500.00 2nd place- $200.00 3rd place- $100.00
Operable fire extinguishers are mandatory in each car while on the track.
If you are going to leave your car after the show, contact Stan Miller 812-453-5580 Cars must be removed no later than one hour after racing ends unless prior arrangements are made.
